How To Do The Saw In Pilates?
The Saw is a Classical Pilates exercise. The Saw is performed after Corkscrew. This is a great exercise for stretching your spine and for pelvic stability. The Saw is similar to Spine Stretch Forward with a twist. Begin by sitting up straight and stretching your arms out to the sides and then slightly towards 10:00 and 2:00, shoulder height, palms facing down.
As you twist one hand to the opposite foot, sweep the back arm down behind the body while the other arm reaches forward. Twist as far as you can, but always keep your sit bones against the mat. Return to the starting upright position, switch sides and repeat. Beginners can sit on a moon box and bend knees slightly. More advanced clients can increase the momentum. The Saw can also be performed with a Magic Circle between your hands.
